A fabric shade is...well, made of fabric. Pretty straightforward, right? Mylar is another material used not only with chandelier shades, but also with lamp shades in general. Mylar is a softer material, much like silk. However, Mylar is not often chosen as the chandelier shade of choice. This privilege generally falls to fabric or linen shades, and occasionally, stitched shades. Mylar is the least common.
Stitched shades
Stitched shades are hand-sewn. There are different styles out there like chain stitching. Depending upon the manufacturer of your stitched shade, you may see completely different stitching patterns from one shade to the next. If you are a fan of sewing or hand-stitched items (many are), you may be looking for a specific sewing pattern. Linen shades
Linen shades are also featured here. Linen shades are sometimes hand-sewn as well with different emblems, designs or medallions. Fabric shades are generally the least expensive. Linen can be a little more costly but is often worth it, as the needle work is done often completely by hand.
