When choosing a chandelier, an important aspect to consider is what type of glass you would like. The three major choices you can make are between frosted glass, crystal, and flame crystal.
Crystal glass chandeliers
Frosted glass is less expensive then crystal. Often times, lamp shades can be manufactured of frosted glass. Chandeliers can be as well. However, more often then not, crystal is the choice to make when it comes to a chandelier. It is more expensive, but it is also the right choice to make. A crystal chandelier certainly adds a level of decor to the room you place it in.
Frosted glass chandeliers
A frosted glass chandelier will do this as well, but a crystal chandelier is much more elegant. The construction process likely differs greatly as well, but this is of little concern to the average homeowner. How it looks, how it feels; the way the light reflects off the glass; these are all points of interest with chandeliers.
